The Alfred Talke GmbH & Co. KG ( Talke own notation: ALFRED TALKE) is an international logistics company for the chemical and petrochemical industries. The range of services includes the transport, storage and handling of all common substances in the chemical industry as well as petrochemical products and food and feed additives. Further services of the company are the analysis and optimization of logistic structures, processes and facilities as well as the planning and construction of logistic systems. The head office is in Hürth near Cologne .
history
Alfred Talke senior founded the company in 1947 in Hürth, south of Cologne, as a transporter of lignite. In 1952, the company developed its first own truck for acids and alkalis. From then on, the company focused its activities on the transport of these liquid chemicals. In the years up to 1980 Talke opened branches in Stade, Ludwigshafen and Cologne-Niehl. Further locations in Belgium and the Netherlands followed at the end of the 1980s. With the fall of the wall, the company continued to expand from the beginning of the 1990s - with the acquisition of the Grimmen-based SpeziTrans and the opening of a location in Schwarzheide. In 2003 the company started operations in Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia. In a gradual expansion on the Arabian Peninsula, Talke is expanding its presence to Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates as well as Bahrain. The company has also been active in the USA since 2015.
Company founder Alfred Talke senior was active in the company's management until his death in 1989. At this point in time, his sons Armin and Norbert Talke were already firmly integrated into the company. In 2002, with Alfred Talke junior, another generation joined the management.

In 2015, the Talke Group had an annual average of around 1210 employees in Europe, the Middle East, India, China and the USA. The capacities available for providing the services include around 600,000 pallet spaces and 2,300 transport units.
For the 2015 financial year, ALFRED TALKE GmbH & Co. KG posted sales of 208 million euros. At the end of 2014, the group's equity amounted to around 30 million euros.
Business areas
- Transport: This division offers transport services for substances in all aggregate states: solid, liquid and gaseous - in every container size from canisters or sacks on a pallet to transport tanks or silos. Talke is also a recognized waste management company.
- Logistics: In the Logistics division, Talke offers not only the storage of all substances accepted for transport for many materials, but also filling, transferring, mixing or sieving.
- Logistic Solutions: With this area, Talke offers logistics-specific advice and optimization as well as the planning and structural implementation of new logistics systems or renovations or extensions thereof.
- Technical Services: The Technical Services division comprises all equipment-related services for the very specific equipment in chemical logistics . These are tank and silo interior cleaning, repairs and modifications, testing and acceptance as well as product suction.
