Ali Abdullah ash-Shamlan
Ali Abdullah asch-Shamlan ( Arabic علي عبد الله الشملان, DMG ʿAlī ʿAbd Allāh aš-Šamlān ; also Ali Abdullah Al-Shamlan ; * March 8, 1945 in Kuwait ) is a Kuwaiti scientist. He is the General Director of the Kuwaiti Foundation for the Advancement of Science (مؤسسة الكويت للتقدم العلمي / Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences; abbreviated KFAS). He is a former Minister for Higher Education, Kuwait.
He graduated from Kuwait University with a PhD in geology , where he has taught as a professor since 1985.
He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( Engl. A Common Word Between Us and You ), the personalities of Islam to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (Engl. "Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ... ") (October 13, 2007).
