Alken-Maes is a Belgian brewery based in Mechelen ; it is part of the global brewery association of the Dutch Heineken Group.

history

The brewery was founded in 1988 through the merger of the two previously independent breweries Maes (in Waarloos ) and Cristal Alken (in Alken ). In 2000 Scottish & Newcastle bought the brewery - but was taken over by Carlsberg and Heineken in 2008 . Alken-Maes has been part of the Heineken Group since then.

In addition, the top-fermented strong beer Judas is brewed in the brewery . It has an alcohol content of 8.5%. The beer is fermented in the bottle and consists of water, malt and hops. The color is slightly cloudy amber . A drinking temperature between 6 and 8 ° C is ideal.
