Alken ( Limburgish : Alleke ) is a Belgian municipality in the Flanders region with 11,499 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019).

Hasselt is six kilometers north, Tongeren 15 kilometers southeast, Maastricht 25 kilometers east, Liège 36 kilometers southeast and Brussels about 65 kilometers west of Alken.

The next motorway exits are in the north near Hasselt on the A13 / E 313 . The municipality has a regional train station on the Namur -Alken-Hasselt- Eindhoven railway line , with others in Sint-Truiden , Hasselt, Bilzen and Tongeren. National express trains also stop in Liège and Maastricht.

Maastricht Aachen Airport and Liège Airport are the nearest regional airports and there is an international airport near the capital, Brussels.
