Lummen ( Limburgish : Leume ) is a Belgian municipality in the Flanders region with 14,890 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). It consists of the main town and the two districts Linkhout and Meldert .

Hasselt is eleven kilometers southeast, Maastricht 37 kilometers southeast and Brussels about 60 kilometers west-southwest.

The Lummen motorway junction is in the immediate vicinity of the village, at the intersection of the A2 / E 314 and the A13 / E 313 . The community has its own motorway exit ( Lummen ) on the A2 .

The nearest regional train station is in schools , a district of the neighboring town of Herk-de-Stad ; others are located in Hasselt, Diest and Heusden-Zolder , among others .

Maastricht Aachen Airport and the airports of Liège and Eindhoven are the closest regional airports and Brussels National Airport near the capital Brussels is an international airport.
