Herk-de-Stad ( Limburgish : Herk ) is a Belgian city in the Flanders region with 12,636 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). It consists of the main town and the districts Berbroek , Donk and schools.
Hasselt is twelve kilometers to the east, the Dutch city of Maastricht 35 kilometers to the east, Liège 44 kilometers to the southeast and Brussels about 55 kilometers to the west.
The next motorway exits are in the west near Halen or in the north near Lummen on the A2 / E 314 and in the east near Hasselt on the A13 / E 313 .
The nearest regional train station is in the schools district , there are others in Hasselt, Diest and Sint-Truiden .
Maastricht Aachen Airport and Liège Airport are the closest regional airports and Brussels National Airport near the capital Brussels is an international airport.
