Zonhoven ( Limburgish : Zoneve ) is a Belgian municipality in the Flanders region with 21,237 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019).

Hasselt is seven kilometers south, Maastricht 26 kilometers southeast and Brussels about 72 kilometers west.

The next motorway exit Houthalen-Zonhoven on the A2 / E 314 is on the northern outskirts.

There are regional train stations nearby in Heusden-Zolder , Genk and Hasselt .

Maastricht Aachen Airport and the airports of Eindhoven and Liège are the nearest regional airports and Brussels National Airport, near the capital Brussels, is the nearest airport of international importance.

De Holsteen refers to eight large Miocene sandstone blocks with irregular natural holes and artificial grooves in the surface in the east of Zonhoven.
