Hechtel-Eksel is a Belgian municipality in the Flanders region with 12,419 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). It consists of the two districts Eksel and Hechtel , which merged in 1977 to form today's municipality.
Hasselt is 22 kilometers (km) south, the Dutch city of Eindhoven 33 kilometers north, Maastricht 36 kilometers southeast and Brussels about 80 kilometers southwest.
The next motorway exits are at Houthalen-Helchteren on the A2 / E 314 and at Ham on the A13 / E 313 .
