Hechtel-Eksel is a Belgian municipality in the Flanders region with 12,419 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). It consists of the two districts Eksel and Hechtel , which merged in 1977 to form today's municipality.

Hasselt is 22 kilometers (km) south, the Dutch city ​​of Eindhoven 33 kilometers north, Maastricht 36 kilometers southeast and Brussels about 80 kilometers southwest.

The next motorway exits are at Houthalen-Helchteren on the A2 / E 314 and at Ham on the A13 / E 313 .
