The arrondissement Maaseik is one of three administrative arrondissements in the Belgian province of Limburg . It covers an area of ​​909.41 km² with 251,589 inhabitants ( as of January 1, 2019 ) in 12 municipalities.

The municipalities of Lommel , Hamont-Achel , Hechtel-Eksel , Houthalen-Helchteren , Peer and Pelt are part of the judicial district of Arrondissement Hasselt . The municipalities of Bocholt , Bree , Dilsen-Stokkem , Kinrooi , Maaseik and Oudsbergen belong to the judicial district of Tongeren .

On January 1, 2019, Neerpelt and Overpelt merged to form the new municipality of Pelt and Meeuwen-Gruitrode with Opglabbeek from the arrondissement of Hasselt zu Oudsbergen.
