Location of the district of Tongeren in the province of Limburg

The district of Tongeren is one of three districts (arrondissements) in the Belgian province of Limburg . It covers an area of ​​631.56 km² with 203,963 inhabitants ( as of January 1, 2019 ) in 13 municipalities, of which the municipality of Voeren is an exclave.

It is both an administrative and a judicial district. The judicial district also includes the municipalities of Bocholt , Bree , Kinrooi , Meeuwen-Gruitrode , Dilsen-Stokkem and Maaseik of the Maaseik district .
