Neerpelt is a district of the Belgian municipality of Pelt ( Limburg province in the Flanders region ) with 17,174 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2018). The place borders the Netherlands and is about 25 km south of Eindhoven . Until January 1, 2019, Neerpelt was an independent municipality.

Neerpelt is separated from the neighboring Overpelt by the Dommel , a tributary of the Meuse . The river flows through the center of the village.

A renowned competition for youth choirs and orchestras has been held in Neerpelt every year since 1953. This European music festival for young people , in which many German groups participate, is dedicated alternately to vocal and instrumental ensembles.
Operation Market Garden
In September 1944 Neerpelt, together with the neighboring Lommel and Overpelt, was the starting point for the land forces of Operation Market Garden after the conquest of Joe's Bridge in Lommel.
