Belle Perez, 2008

María Isabelle (Belle) Perez Cerezo (born January 29, 1976 in Neerpelt ) is a Flemish singer with Spanish roots.

Life

Belle Pérez was raised bilingual from birth and was first known for her participation in the Belgian preliminary round for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1999. She took third place with the song Hello World , had a top 10 hit and even made it into the charts in New Zealand. In 2006 she took part in the Belgian preliminary round again. With her song El mundo bailando she came third again.

At the beginning of her career, Belle Perez sang in English and was able to record various European successes. In her home country Belgium , however, she was only moderately successful. That changed when she released Spanish songs for the first time in 2003 with her album Baila Perez , which soon turned out to be a great success, because now significantly more records were sold than before.

She has already released six albums in Belgium, including a best-of album (2005) and two English-language albums, as well as three Spanish-language albums. Since 2005 it has also been successful in the Netherlands . With her first album Que viva la vida and the single of the same name she was able to enter the top 10 there and from then on recorded constant hits.

Belle Perez has won the “Summer Hit Award” from the Belgian radio station Radio2 every year since 2002 for her hit single. This constant series of victories has not yet been achieved by anyone.

In February 2007 Belle Perez signed a record deal for Germany , Austria and Switzerland with Chet Records ( Kosmo Music ) . She released her first single and an album in these countries in June 2007.

In July 2007 Belle Perez released a new summer single in Belgium and the Netherlands, which until then had only appeared on the compilation Greatest Latin Hits in the Netherlands. The single is called Djolei! Djolei .

Throughout the summer, Belle Perez was touring the Netherlands and Belgium as part of her various tours . At the end of July she also appeared for two live sessions in Germany in a well-known multimedia market chain.

In autumn 2007, Belle Perez recorded new songs for her sixth studio album. At the same time the new tour Gipsy Live started for their upcoming album. Following the release, there was another tour through Belgium and the Netherlands.

According to an online magazine, Sobreviviré was announced as their second single for Germany for November 2, 2007, but the plans have been put on hold for the time being. According to the record company Kosmo Music , the collaboration with Belle Perez in Germany, Austria and Switzerland was broken off. Further publications are not pending.

Her single Dime que tu quieres was released in Belgium in 2008 in advance of her next album Gipsy . She also posed for the men's magazine FHM.

Belle Pérez and her husband Mario Winters, with whom she had been together since 1995 and whom she married in 2000, separated in 2008 after eight years of marriage. A few months later, in Antwerp, Belle met the jewelry designer Wouter van der Horst, who was seven years her junior and with whom she has had a relationship ever since.

After the singer switched to the major record company Universal in 2009, Belle Perez has left her old team of writers and producers behind. With the new producers, the first new single La Colegiala was created, which was released on July 16, 2010. A new attempt at an international career is planned.
