Volker Emde

Volker Emde (born February 15, 1964 in Pößneck ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and a member of the Thuringian state parliament .

Education, work and family

From 1984 to 1989 Emde studied at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena , graduating as a graduate teacher for sport and history.

After completing his studies, shortly before and during the fall of the Wall in 1989, he worked as a teacher at the “Rudolf Schwarz” POS in Triptis. From 1995 to 1997 he worked as a teacher again.

Emde is married, has three children and is of Protestant faith.

In the first state election in 1990 , Emde became a member of the state parliament , to which he was a member until 1994.

On November 13, 1997, he succeeded the late MP Peter Schütz and was thus a member of the state parliament in the second electoral term until 1999 .

In the state elections in 1999 , 2004 , 2009 , 2014 and 2019 Volker Emde succeeded again the way into the parliament by winning the direct mandate in his constituency Greiz I .

Since 2004 he has been chairman of the education working group . From 2009 to 2018 he was Parliamentary Managing Director of the CDU parliamentary group in the Thuringian state parliament. Jörg Geibert was elected as his successor . In November 2012 he was elected to the CDU state executive.

In the local elections in 2018, Emde applied for the office of mayor of the city of Zeulenroda-Triebes , but was defeated in the runoff election on April 29 to Nils Hammerschmidt, who was not a party to the party.
