The arrondissement of Hasselt is one of three administrative arrondissements in the Belgian province of Limburg . It covers an area of ​​881.17 km² with 418,496 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) in 17 municipalities.

It is both an administrative and a judicial district. The judicial district of Hasselt also includes the municipalities of Hamont-Achel , Hechtel-Eksel , Houthalen-Helchteren , Lommel , Neerpelt , Overpelt and Peer des Arrondissement Maaseik . In contrast, the municipalities As , Genk and Zutendaal of the Hasselt administrative district belong to the judicial district of the Tongeren arrondissement .

Until January 1, 2019, the municipality of Opglabbeek also belonged to the arrondissement Hasselt, since then it has been part of the new municipality Oudsbergen in the arrondissement Maaseik .
