Lieve Baeten

Lieve Baeten (born October 24, 1954 in Zonhoven ; † October 15, 2001 in Bekkevoort ) was a Belgian children's book author and illustrator.

Life

Lieve Baeten was born in Zonhoven and studied illustration at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten van Antwerpen . In 1992 she published The Curious Little Witch . The adventures of the little witch Lotje became an international success. Besides Belgium and Germany, her works have been published in Denmark, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Sweden, the USA, Canada and Korea. In Germany her books about the little witch have a total circulation of more than 700,000 copies.

Lieve Baeten died in a car accident in 2001. After her death, her son Wietse Fossey (* 1977) from her marriage to Ken Fossey completed illustrations for The Cunning Little Witch , whose manuscript Lieve Baeten had already completed.
