features
Alkonost comes as a name from Greek mythology , derived from Alkyone . Alkyone was transformed into a kingfisher by the gods .
The beings reproduce by laying eggs. You put these on the seashore and then roll them into the water. The sea calms down for six or seven days, and is thrown up by a storm as soon as the young hatch.
The Alkonosty are the magical birds of luck and hope. Contrasted with this are the sirin , the birds of mourning and sorrow. The Alkonosty are well disposed towards people, but the Sirin are less so.
interpretation
For the Russian Orthodox Church , the Alkonost is the personification of the divine will. She lives in paradise and only leaves it to deliver messages in our world. Her voice makes everyone who hears it forget everything about him.
