Alkyoniden (Greek ᾿Αλκυονίδες , German "Alkyoneus daughters") stands for:

Figures of Greek mythology :

  • ancient name of the kingfishers family
  • Keyx and Alkyone , an ancient royal couple who have been transformed into kingfishers
  • the seven daughters of the mythical giant Alkyoneus who were turned into kingfishers
  • the fifty daughters of Kinyras who were turned into kingfishers

Astronomy:

  • the alkyonid group within Saturn's moons, named after three of Alkyoneus' daughters: Methone , Anthe and Pallene
