The Alkyonids ( Greek Αλκυονίδες Alkyonides ( f. Pl. ), Also Greek Καλά Νησιά Kalá Nisiá , 'beautiful islands') are a group of islands in the Corinthian Gulf , which consists of four small islands. They belong to the municipality of Loutraki-Perachora-Agii Theodori in the Greek region of Peloponnese .
The islands are named after the Alkyonids of Greek mythology ( ancient Greek ᾿Αλκυονίδες ), mythical daughters of Alkyoneus , who are said to have plunged into the sea.
The relatively flat rock islands are only sparsely overgrown. Apparently they were settled in ancient times, if not permanently. Thus, on Daskalio and Zoodochos Pigi, potsherds and wall remains from ancient times were found. On Zoodochos Pigi, a monastery for the life-giving spring from the 12th century has been preserved and is still inhabited. The 2001 Greek census showed nine inhabitants of the islands.
