All People's Party (Ghana)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The All People's Party was a political union of opposition parties in Ghana . It emerged in 1980 from the merger of several small parties such as the United National Convention during the reign of President Hilla Limann as an opposition group.

Jerry Rawlings , who had reigned since the end of 1981, invited leading representatives of the parties united in the All People's Party (APP) to participate in government in January 1982. This is how President John Agyekum Kufuor entered his first government office as Secretary for Local Administration.
