Allan sisters

The Allan Sisters (Czech: Sestry Allanovy ) was a Czech singing trio founded in 1940 that existed until 1967 .

history

The trio was founded during the Second World War in German-occupied Prague by Jiřina Salačová , Vera Kočvarová and Radka Hlavsová, who were members of the Kühn Choir. Their role models were the Boswell Sisters and the Andrews Sisters . They chose the name after the pseudonym "Allan" of the composer Alfons Jindra .

They had their first successes in the cabaret "Red Seven", where they were discovered by Karel Vlach and performed with his dance orchestra. Further appearances followed with the Melody Boys dance orchestra by RA Dvorský and the pianist Leopold Korbař . As "Allan-Terzett" they recorded numerous songs in German with Telefunken and the Deutsche Grammophon-Gesellschaft . They worked with Horst Winter as background singers.

After the war they only sang in Czech. Radka Hlavsová was replaced by Máša Horová and the group expanded to a quartet by Bozena Port. In 1948 they were involved in the production of the musical Divotvorný hrnec .
