The general journal for psychiatry and psychological-judicial medicine was published by August Hirschwald in Berlin from 1844 , and later by de Gruyter . It was the first German medical journal for psychiatry . The founding editors were the “ institutional psychiatrists ” Heinrich Philipp August Damerow (1798–1866), Carl Friedrich Flemming (1799–1880) and Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Roller (1802–1878). From 1857 to 1904 Heinrich Laehr (1820–1905) was the main editor of the magazine, which was then also referred to as “Laehrs Zeitschrift” or “Grüner Heinrich”.
In 1890 the title page of the magazine showed Richard von Krafft-Ebing as a co-editor. Until the First World War , the magazine for psychiatry was one of the most important publication options for neurologists. In 1938 the magazine changed its title to General Journal for Psychiatry and its Frontier Areas . The show was discontinued in 1949.
