August Hirschwald

August Hirschwald (* 1774 ; † September 3, 1848 ) was a German publisher and bookseller. In 1816 he founded the Hirschwald Verlag , which became one of the most important medical publishers in the German Empire.

Hirschwald also had a bookshop in Berlin on Burgstrasse . In 1840 his nephew Eduard Aber took over the management of the range, which concentrated on medicine and natural sciences. His successor in the bookstore was his son Ferdinand Hirschwald. In 1921 the publishing house and bookstore were transferred to Springer Verlag .
