Alliance des Forces Democratiques pour la Liberation du Congo
The Alliance of Democratic Forces for the Liberation of the Congo (AFDL) was founded on October 18, 1996 under the auspices of Rwanda and Uganda as an alliance between various opponents of Mobutu to end his dictatorship. Its members included:
- Parti de la Révolution Populaire (PRP) / Laurent-Désiré Kabila ,
- Conseil National de Résistance pour la Démocratie (CNRD) / André Kissasse ,
- Alliance Démocratique des Peuples (ADP) / Déogratias Bugera ,
- Mouvement Révolutionnaire du Zaire (MRZ) / Masasu Nindaga .
After all co-founders had disappeared from the Congolese political scene, Laurent-Désiré Kabila dissolved the AFDL.
