Life

His voice already caused a stir in the choral society of his hometown. As early as 1851 he was hired by the director of the Cologne City Theater for smaller opera roles. Then he went to Lübeck (debut: “Lionel” in Martha ). From there he went to Koblenz and on to the Deutsche Oper Amsterdam.

In 1855 he moved to the USA, where he was particularly successful in Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore and St. Louis.

In 1859 he returned to Europe and went to Königsberg, where he stayed until 1863. That year he went to Brno (debut: “Masianello”). After the end of the guest performance he fell ill with a catarrhal cough, which degenerated into a fatal typhoid disease. He died shortly after his thirtieth birthday. A guest application from the Vienna Court Opera reached him after his death.
