Paola Majocchi (1931–2009) and Father Anastasio Gutiérrez CMF (1911–1998) met in Rome to establish a new lay association and laid down the first measures in the spirit of the Second Vatican Council . In 1965, the association of Bishop Abele Conigli from Sansepolcro was recognized under canon law as a " Pia unio ".
