The Alliance of Orders of St. John of Jerusalem is an amalgamation of the four recognized non-Catholic orders of knighthood of St. John ( Order of St. John ). With regard to other national orders, the member orders see themselves as Christian lay orders through their shared Christian creed and their common tradition. The alliance was founded in 1961 in the Komturkirche in Nieder-Weisel . All member orders are recognized in their respective home countries.

The four members of the Alliance of Orders of St. John are:

The Alliance and the older Catholic Sovereign Order of Malta , based in Rome, have recognized each other since 1961. One sees oneself as connected by a common history and the common mission, which consists in caring for the sick and the needy.
