Along Came Betty
Along Came Betty is a jazz composition by tenor saxophonist and arranger Benny Golson .
It is one of the titles that stand for the lyrical side of the hard bop composer Golson. She was first recorded by Art Blakeys Jazz Messengers in 1958 for the album Moanin ' ( Blue Note Records ), of which Golson was saxophonist and musical director at the time.
Along Came Betty was featured several times by Benny Golson (both with the Jazztet and his own bands), the Jazz Messengers, but also by Jimmy Raney , Joe Lovano , Quincy Jones , Rufus Reid and Marian McPartland / Willie Pickens ( Ain't Misbehavin ': Live at the Jazz Showcase 2000).
