The Old Pharmacy in Bremen district of Hemelingen in Hemelinger Bahnhofstrasse was founded in 1889 in the style of historicism built and stands since 1994 under monument protection.

The building with around 1000 m 2 of usable space was built for the branch of the Alte Apotheke Achim , which has been located in the village of Hemelingen for 26 years . Medicines were made and sold on the ground floor, the pharmacist family lived on the upper floor.

Many carved and painted images, mosaic tiles and probably the oldest pharmacy facility in Bremen have been preserved from the turn of the century. The wooden coffered ceiling and the winter garden with its completely preserved wooden structure are now rare.

1945–1947 it was rebuilt according to a design by the architect Reinhard Ahlemann. The pharmacy was in operation until the end of the 20th century. There was also a doctor's practice on the ground floor in the southern part of the building. After the last owner died in 1999, the building was managed in trust by a company belonging to the city of Bremen and offered for sale. At the beginning of 2011, a buyer was sought for the building of Immobilien Bremen, an institution under public law, through a tender: In return for a purchase price of 150,000 euros, the new owner was to be obliged to implement a usage concept coordinated with the municipality of Bremen and the monument protection. As part of this tender, a buyer was found who, however, did not match the objectives of the local committees in every detail, so that a second selection process took place among the applicants. On July 12, 2011 Immobilien Bremen announced that an "Alte Apotheke Hemelingen GbR" had acquired the building.

During the subsequent renovation and conversion, many historical elements were preserved. The Energie- und Baukontor GbR, Burkhard Hennig, Thomas Witte, Volker Köckritz received recognition for the revitalization concept as part of the Bremen Monument Preservation Prize 2013.
