The old mill of Donsbrüggen is located in the district of Donsbrüggen of Kleve . The mill is still in operation.

history

In 1824 the octagonal wooden Dutch mill was put into operation near Donsbrüggen. In 1890 a steam engine was installed, which was taken out of service after the Second World War. The mill was already restored in the 1950s, and the Alte Windmühle Donsbrüggen sponsorship group has existed since 1982 and is responsible for maintaining and operating the mill.

The windmill is one of the few remaining mills in Germany that are equipped with so-called Bilauschen Ventikanten . This is understood to mean a wing design borrowed from aircraft construction, which gives the mill a very distinctive appearance. They were installed during the renovation in 1955-1963.

The height of the mill is 20 m, the diameter of the blades 21 m.

The functioning of various mills is explained in the small museum.
