The Altenburger drum pigeon is a domestic pigeon breed and is one of the drum pigeons .

Pattern description

  • Origin: Bred in the Saxon-Thuringian area around Altenburg since the beginning of the 18th century .
  • Overall impression: strong field pigeon shape, almost horizontal posture, high-forehead head, smooth-footed, long-lasting and clear drum voice.
  • Breed characteristics:
    • Head: High, broad forehead, the highest point in front of the eye, crown sloping backwards, smooth-headed.
    • Eyes: pearl eye, narrow eye rim, light to dark depending on the color of the plumage.
    • Beak: medium length , dark to black with dark shades, dark horn colored with dominant reds, red pale, red pale hammered and red pale gray horses, horn colored with blue pales, flour lights and yellow pale, light horn colored to light with dominant yellow, pea yellow (yellow pale), yellow pale hammered and yellow pale pale light in white, red, yellow, white-headed, royalty, red and yellow in tabby and piebald.
    • Neck: Moderately long, well-cut throat.
    • Chest: Broad, arched, protruding.
    • Back: Broad at the shoulders, slightly sloping.
    • Wings: Moderately long, covering the back, not quite reaching the end of the tail.
    • Tail: Moderately long, tightly closed, broad-feathered in a straight line with the back.
    • Legs: medium length, not feathered; Claws corresponding to the color of the beak; Claw color of whiteheads and piebalds of no importance.
    • Plumage: Well developed, close fitting.
