The old station in Hamburg-Bergedorf of the Hamburg-Bergedorfer Eisenbahn is the second oldest surviving station building in Germany. It was created in 1842 based on a design by Alexis de Chateauneuf . The railway line to Hamburg was planned by William Lindley in 1838 and put into operation on May 7, 1842.

The station building is no longer on a railway line. For the extension of the Bergedorf Railway to Berlin , which opened on December 15, 1846 , a route to the north-west of the Bergedorf city center was chosen and a new station was built there. As a result, the old Bergedorf station lost its function and was used as a residential building from then on, although changes were also made to the building.

After its renovation between 1990 and 1992, the reception building is now used as a venue for club activities and as a district office for the house and property . The platform area is now a lawn, and a goods shed has been preserved next to it.

The train station is located south of Bergedorf city center on Neuer Weg . The Bergedorf Süd station of the Bergedorf-Geesthacht Railway , which began operating in 1906 , was later built on this site about 150 m away .
