Aluminum in cable notation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The aluminum in cables quotation (AIK) is a stock exchange-dependent price indication for aluminum for use in cables , i.e. for so-called conductor aluminum or conductive aluminum (E-Alu for short). It is pure aluminum or aluminum alloys with a low content of other substances for applications in electrical engineering (DIN EN 573-3).

For the daily pricing of cables it is a parameter in the form of the aluminum surcharge (also aluminum raw material surcharge, ARZ for short).

The information is given in euros per 100 kilograms.

Usually, power cables and single wires are offered at a so-called hollow price, i.e. without metal. The aluminum surcharge is calculated using the number of metals (mass of conductor metal per kilometer of cable) and the applicable AIK and, if applicable, the procurement costs for the aluminum.

The AIK is published every trading day on behalf of the protection association DEL-Anmerkung eV by a trustee office from the official aluminum cash listing of the LME ( London Metal Exchange ), the Metal Bulletin premium for aluminum, the premium for wire rod made from conductive aluminum, and the Bloomberg FX Fixing Frankfurt 2.00 p.m. (BFIX).

The premium for wire rod made from conductive aluminum is determined from the reports from the main processors and producers of conductive aluminum.
