Pods (noble family)
Hülsen is the name of an originally Frisian nobility that immigrated to East Prussia in the 16th century .
Origin and history
The family first appeared in a document in 1243 with the miles ( knight ) Johannes de Ulsen . The family line begins in the 15th century with Karl von Hülsen. His grandson Georg von Hülsen settled in East Prussia at the beginning of the 16th century .
The family became hereditary on January 29, 1800 (for the brothers Georg Friedrich von Hülsen, Herr auf Arensdorf in East Prussia, Bernhard Wilhelm von Hülsen, Herr auf Wesselshöfen in East Prussia and Ernst Ludwig von Hülsen, Herr auf Dösen in East Prussia) into the hereditary Prussian counts raised . Another count ( primogeniture ) took place on September 10, 1840 for Gustav von Hülsen, gentleman on meadow in East Prussia. Finally, Dietrich von Hülsen-Haeseler , wing adjutant (Primogenitur) on February 12, 1894, Georg von Hülsen , Prussian chamberlain and general manager of the royal theater on January 27, 1909, and Botho von Hülsen on November 14, 1910, were elevated to the rank of Count of Prussia .

The family coat of arms shows three (2: 1) green holly leaves in gold . On the helmet with green and gold covers, the leaves between open black flights .
The coat of arms from 1894 and 1909, with the main coat of arms as a heart shield, is square: 1 in gold, a black eagle's wing turned inwards with the Saxons, 2 in silver, two slanted standards on golden lance shafts, each with a gold-fringed flag, red on the right and blue on the left, inside silver disc a black eagle, 3 in silver a crowned, gold-armored, red-tongued black eagle, 4 in gold the royal crowned, red-gold-edged silver cross of the former collegiate monastery Beatae Mariae Virginis in Halberstadt with a Prussian eagle in the medallion. Three helmets with black covers, on the right and left inward facing the eagle growing (without wings), on the middle one between the open black eagle's wings the three holly leaves. Shield holder: Two inward-looking wild men, wreathed with oak leaves around their heads and loins, holding a club in their right and left hands.
