Beata Maria Virgo

Beata Maria Virgo is the Latin name for the Blessed Virgin Mary . This Marian title goes back to the hymn of praise to Mary in the Magnificat ( Luke 1.48  EU ): beatam me dicent omnes generationes , “from now on all sexes will praise me blessed”.

The genitive Beatae Mariae Virginis (abbreviation BMV or BMV ) often appears in the Latin names of festivals  - for example in festo annuntiationis BMV , Exspectatio Partus Beatae Mariae Virginis , Praesentatio Beatae Mariae Virginis and Festum Beatae Mariae Virginis a Rosario  - or in the patronage of churches
