from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mariamitische Maronite Order ( lat. : Ordo maronita Beatae Mariae Virginis - "Maronite Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary", also Aleppianer , religious symbol OMM ) is a religious community in the Maronite Church .

history

From the Lebanese Maronite Order , also known as the "Baladites", a group was formed in 1742, which shifted its main focus from the rural areas to the cities. The "Aleppine Antonians", as they called themselves, became independent in 1770 with the consent of Pope Clement XIV. However, the congregation still traces its historical origins back to the "Lebanese Maronite Order" founded in 1695. Since 1969 it has been officially known as the "Maronite Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary" or "Mariamite Order of the Maronites" for short (from Greek Mariam , Arabic Maryam for Mary ).

Spirituality and Calling

The spiritual life is shaped by a monastic life with commitment, devotion and authenticity and is based on religious vows . Exemplary for the monastic life is the commission by the Virgin Mary , to which a special veneration is shown. Daily participation in the celebration of the Eucharist is an obligation. The main goal is to live and work according to the " Evangelical Councils ", which are related to the tradition and spirit of the Maronite Syrian Church. The rules of Anthony the Great form the basis of this life oriented towards Jesus Christ .
