Archibald George Montgomerie, 18th Earl of Eglinton, 6th Earl of Winton (born August 27, 1939 - June 14, 2018 ) was a British peer .

He was born on August 27, 1939 as the eldest child of Archibald Montgomerie, 17th Earl of Eglinton (1914-1966) and Ursula Joan Watson († 1987). From 1945 to 1966 he carried the courtesy title of Lord Montgomerie .

He was educated at Eton College .

When his father died in 1966, he inherited his title. At the same time he was since then Chief of the Clan Montgomery . At that time, a seat in the House of Lords was associated with his nobility . In Hansard , however, no word messages are recorded from him. With the House of Lords Act 1999 , his entitlement to a seat in the House of Lords expired.

From 1972 to 1992 he was managing director of Gerrard Holdings. He was a member of the London Stock Exchange . From 1992 to 1994 he was Chairman of Gerrard Vivian Gray Ltd and in 1994 Chairman of Edinburgh Investment Trust plc.

Marriage and offspring

Montgomerie had been married to Marion Carolina Dunn-Yarker since 1964. With her he had four sons:

  • Hon. William John Montgomerie (* 1968)
  • Hon. James David Montgomerie (* 1972)
  • Hon. Robert Seton Montgomerie (* 1975)
