Archibald William Alexander Montgomerie, 17th Earl of Eglinton, 5th Earl of Winton (born October 16, 1914 , † April 21, 1966 ) was a British peer .

He was the son of Archibald Montgomerie, 16th Earl of Eglinton (1880-1945) and Lady Beatrice Susan Dalrymple.

He attended Eton College , graduating from New College in Oxford in 1936 as a Bachelor of Arts .

He served with the rank of lieutenant in the Scots Guards , became a major in the Ayrshire Yeomanry and fought in World War II .

When his father died in 1945, he inherited his title. At that time, a seat in the House of Lords was associated with his nobility . In Hansard , however, no word messages are recorded from him.

He was a member of the Royal Company of Archers . From 1948 to 1953 he was Lord Lieutenant (DL) of Ayrshire and from 1953 to 1966 Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Ayrshire.

In 1938 he married Ursula Joan Watson († 1987). He had four children with her:
