Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo (born January 28, 1964 in Ibadan , Nigeria ) is Bishop of Abeokuta .

Life

Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at the Seminary of St. Peter and Paul in Bodija, Archdiocese of Ibadan . He was ordained a priest on October 7, 1989, and served as vicar from 1989 to 1992. From 1992 to 1996 he was a teacher at the Minor Seminary and was also responsible for the parishes of St. Patrick and St. Ignatius of Loyola. From 1990 to 1996 he was Vice Director of Administrative Reform of the Archdiocese of Ibadan. After completing a doctorate in church history at the Pontifical Gregorian University (1996-2000), he was a clergyman at the Marian Cathedral of Ibadan and the Church of the Assumption in Bodija.

Since 2001 he has been Professor of Church History at the St. Peter and Paul Seminary and since 2003 Professor of Church History at the Dominican Institute. From 2002 to 2007 he was Chairman of the Council of Priests in the Archdiocese of Ibadan and from 2002 to 2008 General Secretary of the Diocesan Priests Council of All Yorubaland . Until his appointment as bishop he was vicar general in the Archdiocese of Ibadan.

On April 15, 2014, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Abeokuta. The Archbishop of Lagos , Alfred Adewale Martins , donated him episcopal ordination on June 25 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Ibadan , Gabriel 'Leke Abegunrin , and his predecessor Felix Alaba Adeosin Job .
