The Bistum Abeokuta ( lat. : Dioecesis Abeokutanus ) is in Nigeria preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Abeokuta .
Its area includes the Local Government Areas Abeokuta South , Abeokuta North , Ado-Odo-Ota , Yewa North , Yewa South , Ifo , Obafemi-Owode and Odeda in the state of Ogun .
history
The diocese of Abeokuta was established on October 24, 1997 by Pope John Paul II from cession of territory to the Archdiocese of Lagos and subordinated to this as a suffragan diocese.
