At the Ochsenmarkt (Lüneburg)

The street Am Ochsenmarkt is located in the city center of Lüneburg .

location

The short street connects Marienplatz with Am Markt square . The houses of the street are all on the northern side of the street, the southern side of the street is the town hall . The numbering starts in the east.

history

Originally the street was part of the market. The cattle market was held here during the Gallus week. From the 17th century the name went into common parlance.

Architectural monuments

There are two architectural monuments in the street.

Community center The house is located north of the town hall on the corner of Burmeisterstraße , the main building is also located here. A house from 1300 can be proven here. Extensive ceiling paintings from the 18th century have been preserved in the house. Am Ochsenmarkt 1 Lüneburg.jpg

District Court The district court has been located in the administration building since 1983. The house was built from 1845, according to an inscription it was completed in 1849. The facade has 11 axes, at the corners there are three-axis projections. The facade is in the neo-Gothic style with references to the Tudor style .
