from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Amakudari ( Jap. 天下り , such as: descending from heaven ) is called in Japan , the changeover of a high government official after his retirement in the private economy . High-ranking bureaucrats often take a position in the management of companies after their retirement after a statutory rest period of two years .

As a counterpart to “descending from heaven” there is also the “ascending”: “Amaagari” ( 天上 が り ). This means the posting of personnel from companies to the authorities .

In France, a similar phenomenon is known as pantouflage .
