Ludwig Wenz (born August 24, 1906 in Nuremberg ; † April 19, 1968 ) was a German football goalkeeper who was active for Nuremberg clubs and SpVgg Fürth and played an international match for the senior national team .
Career
societies
Wenz, born in Nuremberg, started playing soccer at FC Sportfreunde Nürnberg at the age of nine and moved to Nürnberger FV in 1920, for which he was active for five seasons.
Out of adolescence, he was hired as a goalkeeper for the 1925/26 season by the general sports club in Nuremberg , for whom he was active in the Bavarian regional league and from the 1927/28 season in the Bavarian regional league, Northern Bavaria group .
For the 1931/32 season he switched to league competitor SpVgg Fürth , for which he played his point games from the 1933/34 season in the Gauliga Bayern (from 1939 official Bavarian sports division) instead of the district leagues as the top divisions in Germany - until 1940 (during the current Season) 145 exactly. In 1935 he won the Gauliga championship with the team and was qualified as a participant in the final round of the 1935 German championship . In Group D he played all six games and narrowly failed at VfB Stuttgart to make it to the semifinals . For Fürth, he also played seven games for the Tschammerpokal , the predecessor of the DFB Cup, in the 1935, 1937 and 1938 seasons .
National team
In contrast to many other excellent Nuremberg soccer players, he never moved to 1. FC Nürnberg . Nevertheless, he was appointed to the senior national team in 1930. In the same year, the long-time goalkeeper of the national team Heiner Stuhlfauth from 1. FC Nürnberg played his last international match. As a successor Ludwig Wenz could not recommend himself in the 3-6 defeat on September 7, 1930 in Copenhagen against the selection of Denmark - it was his only international appearance.
