Amalrich V of Montfort

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Amalrich V of Montfort ( French : Amaury de Montfort ; † unclear, at the latest after 1190) was a Count of Évreux from the house of Montfort-l'Amaury . He was the older son of Simon III. von Montfort († 1181), from whom he inherited Évreux.

Amalrich was married to Mable of Gloucester, daughter of William FitzRobert, 2nd Earl of Gloucester . Their only child was Amalrich VI. of Montfort († before 1213), Earl of Évreux and Earl of Gloucester .

Amalrich's year of death is difficult to determine. The chronicler Roger von Hoveden names an Amauri de Montfort for the year 1190 as a participant in the third crusade , which, among other things , testified to the treaty of alliance between Richard the Lionheart and Tankred von Lecce in Sicily . It is unclear which Amalrich is involved.
