Amastris (daughter of Artaxerxes)
Amastris was a member of the Persian Achaemenid dynasty in the 4th century BC. She was a daughter and at the same time the wife of the great king Artaxerxes II.
Artaxerxes II first promised the Armenian satrap Tiribazos to give him his daughter Amastris as his wife, but then married her himself. This behavior of the great king was adopted by Tiribazos in the late 360s BC. On the occasion of Artaxerxes' son and heir to the throne Dareios to instigate a plot against his father; however, the conspiracy failed.
