Amazon Coin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Amazon Coin (. English for Amazon coin ), sometimes Amazon money called, is one of US Internet merchants in February 2013 Amazon introduced virtual currency, the 1: 1 pegged to the US-cents, and at least initially, to the trading platform is bound by Amazon. In order to be able to buy with it, an account must be created in advance and real money (euros, US dollars) must be deposited. The credit is not interest-bearing, can only be filled in fixed blocks of value and cannot be exchanged without loss. Amazon keeps 30% of every transaction as a fee.

The Amazon Coin functionality was first activated in May 2013 with an advertising campaign aimed at owners of the Amazon Kindle Fire in the USA.

Because of the way this "money" works, it is not possible to speak of a real currency (not even in the sense of Bitcoins ), but rather it works like the usual gift, credit and value card systems .
