Remarks

The young and ambitious Johann Strauss son was still overshadowed by his then very well-known and popular father , with whom he competed. To step out of this shadow, he was forced to compose works that hit the public right away. This polka also falls into this category, the title of which is reminiscent of the female warrior people of the Amazons found in Greek mythology . However, the composer's plan did not quite work out. The general public hardly noticed the work at that time.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 2 minutes and 43 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
