Ameny (vizier)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ameny was an ancient Egyptian vizier who was in office under King Amenemhet II . Ameny is only known from the fragment of an annal stone of Amenemhat II . This fragment was found in Memphis in 1908 , along with other fragments from the same annals, which were not found until 1955. Ameny has the titles of head of the city , who belongs to the curtain , vizier and zab . The inscription names a statue of the vizier that was placed in the ruler's mortuary temple.

The exact classification of the vizier within the reign of Amenemhat II is uncertain. In the eighth year of the ruler's reign, a certain Sesostris was in office and Ameny may have been his successor.
