American Accounting Association

The American Accounting Association , often abbreviated as AAA , is an American organization devoted to researching and promoting corporate accounting .

The AAA was founded in 1916 as the American Association of University Instructors in Accounting , and has had its current name since 1936. There are currently 17 sections that delve into various topics relating to accounting and bookkeeping. Many of these sections have their own publication media. Membership in the organization is voluntary, as a member you have access to these periodicals.

The AAA is headed by a twelve-person Board of Directors . The current president is Terry Shevlin of the University of California, Irvine .
