The American Association (AA) was an American major league in baseball . The American Association existed from 1882 to 1891. During those ten years, the American Association and the National League fought for supremacy in American baseball. An American Association team has participated in a historic form of the World Series seven times . However, only the St. Louis Browns could claim a victory in 1886.

Participation in the historic World Series

  • The New York Metropolitans lost the first historic World Series in 1884.
  • The St. Louis Browns played four times in a row in the World Series from 1885 to 1888. The team achieved one win, one draw and two defeats.
  • The Brooklyn Bridegrooms lost to New York in the 1889 World Series.
  • The Louisville Colonels drew against Brooklyn in the 1890 World Series.

Other meanings

  • From 1902 to 1962 and from 1969 to 1997 there was an AAA minor league, which carried out its game operations under the name American Association.
