American Overseas Airlines ( AOA ), which emerged from American Export Airlines , which was founded in 1937 , was an American airline. It was founded by the shipping company American Export Lines . The aim was to offer Atlantic connections. In 1942, she started a connection from New York to Ireland with flying boats .
In November 1945 American Export Airlines became American Overseas Airlines following the merger of American Airlines' transatlantic division. After several years of good cooperation with American Airlines (AA took care of the national connections), AOA merged with Pan American and merged with Pan American , with which the name disappeared.
